I have been playing with some AI tools like ChatGPT and Dall-E. Today, I am sharing what I have created using these tools. But first, what are ChatGPT and Dall-E?
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an AI language model developed by OpenAI, designed to understand and generate human-like text based on the input it receives. It’s part of the larger GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) series of models.
What is DALL-E?
DALL-E is an AI system developed by OpenAI that generates images from textual descriptions. It’s a fascinating example of how artificial intelligence can understand and create visual content based on the given text input. DALL·E operates on the GPT architecture, similar to models like GPT-3, but it specializes in image generation. It creates unique and sometimes surreal images based on the descriptions provided to it. This technology showcases the potential for AI to create novel visual content based on human input.
How I Created a Book Using AI
You can use ChatGPT by creating a free account.
Firstly, I opened a new chat and I told ChatGPT about Katie (my doll), her business Unicorn Bakery, how she learned baking from her grandma, and how she started the Unicorn Bakery. (everything I imagined Katie would be.) Then, in the same chat, I asked ChatGPT to write an intro to a baking book that Katie would be releasing. (ChatGPT even created the title of the book “Whisked Memories: A Baking Journey”)
I continued by asking ChatGPT to create a list of recipes that should go into the book. I asked for 20 recipes. (I put all of the recipes in the contents page, however, I could not include all the pages as the book would be too thick.)
Tip: ChatGPT stops writing once in a while if the answer is getting too long. You can simply type “please continue” so ChatGPT write the remaining of its answer.
Once I had the list of recipes, I asked Dall-E to create an image based on the recipe. Dall-E generated four images for each recipe, so I picked one I liked. Some images were great and some were unrealistic.
I repeat these steps to have enough recipes and images to create a baking recipe book.
Finally, I asked ChatGPT to write an About Author page.
Once I had the intro page, recipes, images, and About Author page, I moved on to Canva to create my book printable as usual.
Introducing “Whisked Memories: A Baking Journey” by Katie Miller
Here are some pages from the book so you can see the details.
This book is published by Tinytales Press based in Vancouver, BC, Canada; an imaginary publisher I created for my miniature world. I even created a logo. I designed it like a miniature person reading a book in the logo.
When you look at the miniature book, you don’t even see the details of the logo, but I love to hide these details in my printables and dioramas. The more details I put into my creation, the more my dolls become alive…that’s how I feel at least.
